Little Late But Totally AWESOME Weekend and Week So Far!

A little late with this one but it took some time to get back with the reality program after we got back from our AWESOME weekend of hanging out with my BFF since high school at her house on the water!  What a great time!

First off, here is me and my BFF.  We have been friends for almost 30 years.  Saying that makes me feel so old but it is truly awesome to be able to say that you have had a friend for that length of time.  We don’t always see each other often, but we can always just pick up where we left off!

Bill caught a bunch of catfish from the dock at the house, Maggie made friends with my BFF’s dog and she got to go on her first jet ski ride (which she loved!) and we all got to hang out on the boat in the perfect weather!  Perfect weekend!

We also gave our dog Foxy her first bath since we got her 5 years ago.  She is normally very clean since she sheds constantly but she has a problem where she leaks pee when she lays down to sleep.  They did something wrong when she was spayed before we got her.  Poor dog!  For some reason lately it has been bad and she had pee all over her back area so she finally got her first bath with us.  She looked like a little drowned rat!


I also found a friend at work that will actually walk with me!  She also lives like right around the corner from me so we went walking together for the second time this afternoon and it was a lot of fun!  So much better than running!  I think we went about 2 miles and walking is so much less stressful on my feet and knees than running.  Going with a friend makes it just as therapeutic as running so win win for everything!  Hopefully this keeps up!


My co-worker that had surgery Monday is also doing well.  Surgery went great and they were able to get all the tumor out (it was small) and the cancer hadn’t spread so she doesn’t have to have any radiation or chemotherapy so that is great and I am very thankful!  So far it has been a good week!

The Quote of Life


This is most definitely the quote of life I think.  At least for me.  I need to learn not to worry about the things I cannot change (such as someone’s bad mood most of the time) and to take a stand when needed to help the greater good when it might make a difference.

I can do this and I can be happy with it!  I can accept myself and do the things that make me happy as long as they are not harming anyone and not have to feel guilty about it.  I cannot make everyone like that I do (I can accept that) but I can have the courage to be happy being myself and not worrying about what others think of it!

12 Years!

My husband and I just celebrated 12 years of marriage yesterday.  I feel so old now!  We went to an awesome restaurant called Parts and Labor and had some great food and great drinks.  I should have taken some pictures to capture some of the wonderful ambiance but I am still trying to get used to this blogging thing as you can see from my 6 day hiatus between posts.  One picture of me that my husband took while we were there is all I got!


I started seeing my therapist again and she is helping me work through my body issues and my food issues.  It was much more fun going out to eat and not worrying so much about the why I should or should not eat or drink something.  Just choosing to do it and not feel guilty about it makes everything so much easier.  It still feels kind of wrong to me but I am working on it!

Now I am trying to get into lifting weights and I am having a hard time with it.  The weird thing is that I don’t really want to run anymore either.  I am just done with it all.  But I know I should lift.  It is good for me!

Back in the Saddle Again!

You may be asking – how many times is this crazy person going to start this blog and then disappear?  I am asking myself the same thing!  Maybe the 3rd time (or more like 5th or 6th time) is the charm!

My family and I have had a fun summer so far.  My husband got a drone so he has been having fun flying that and taking pictures.  We went camping at Assateague Island National Seashore where wild ponies invaded our camp and stole our food.




Before all this there was some not so fun stuff.  I got sick with a bacterial infection that landed me in the hospital for almost a week.  Luckily I got through it and feel fine now.  I had a nice view from my room once I got out of ICU and Maggie got to come visit.


 Now I am not allowed to run long distance for awhIle and I am kind of freaking out. Got to find something new to do with my time. Working on it!

Weekend Wrap Up – Days 6 and 7

This weekend was fun!  We went to Washington DC for a march for Standing Rock and the Dakota Pipeline.  It was cold.  I truly couldn’t feel my feet by the end of it.  Then we stayed overnight for a date weekend and went out to dinner and to listen to music.  I decided to drink Vodka and that was a bad idea!  Recovering now…  but it was a great weekend!

I actually did well eating this weekend.  I started Saturday with two left over crab deviled eggs, Kombucha and a green smoothie with spinach, celery, carrots, peaches and coconut water.  I drank a fatty coffee through out the day.  I had a latte with whole milk from Starbucks and a nuts and coconut Kind Bar for a snack.  Dinner was fantastic!  I had grilled salmon with a avocado salad, spicy collard greens and green beans.  I also had too much vodka…

Today has been good too.  Breakfast was a omelet with all kinds of vegetables and cheese, bacon, sausage and some fruit.  We skipped lunch since we had a big breakfast and since we were traveling.  Dinner was meat balls, crab dip, shrimp salad and a cheat with a cake pop.  I couldn’t help it!  It was so good and so worth it though!

To bed early tonight to recover from the weekend fun.  Hopefully next week is a good one!


Weekend Updates

Weekend was great!  Busy, busy, busy!

Started the weekend bright and early Saturday morning with a 10 mile run in 7 degree heat with 90% humidity (at 6am).  Not fun but I finished.  Then we went to the farmer’s market and got some great food and went to my Mom’s house for a swim in her pool.  My look at the end of the day was this…


Then Sunday we got up and went to the zoo.  We went early so we got to see all the penguins out along with the pelicans and we got to see the Arctic Foxes getting fed a treat of apples.  They were super cute!  After the zoo we went to the movies to see Finding Dory.  It was cute.  My daughter liked it and she managed to sit through the whole thing.  Probably because she got super tired walking at the zoo!  My husband also made friends with a goat at the zoo!


Great weekend but with all the running around I feel like I now need a weekend again to recover from the weekend!  I guess that is when you know it was good!  🙂
